REGULATIONS
SOLO

GENERAL
In drafting these regulations the organization wanted
to guarantee the qualitative standard of the individual
categoriy. The organisation try to prevent insufficiently
prepared runners from starting.
PARTICIPANTS
1. Participants for the World Challenge and the European
Challenge can only entered by the national organization
a member country.
2. Each country can enter maximum 9 male and 9 female
athletes. Out of these athletes become formed the country
teams; at most 6 male or female athletes a team. At the
technical meeting they become fixed definitively.
3. Participants at the Dutch Championship can register
themselves if they are a member of a to the KNAU connected
athlaticclub. The entry must be accompanied by an A-form.
START
4. The start and the changeover area (for teams) are situated
at the "Laan van Zevenhuizen" between the crossroads
with the "Mheenlaan" and with "Zilverschoon"
(see map).
5. The start is on Friday May 18th at 14:00 exactly (02:00
P.M.).
The start for the 6-hours runners is on Saturday May 19th
at 08:00 A.M. exactly.
6. Individual runners shall start behind the starting
line at the right side of the track.
The 6-hours runners shall start besides the end of the
changeover area on the cycle-track near the (grand)stand.
7. At the moment of the start a watch will be started.
This watch will be the competition watch.
8. The starting numbers including the sponsor's name should
be visibly worn in the middle of the chest and the back
at all times.
9. During the race it is allowed to wear names of sponsors
in compliance with the regulations of the IAU, IAAF, EAA
and KNAU.
THE TRACK
10. The length of one lap has been set at 1652.72 metres
for the individual competitors. The measurement was made
in 2002 according to the guidelines of the K.N.A.U. and
IAAF/IAU (Jones Counter).
11. The individual competitors shall use the special passage
right of the changeover area.
12. For the use of individual competitors there is an
area of 400 metres length for care and provision.
The organization will make available tables for food and
drink the competitors themselves may bring with them.
Lavatories for individual runners will be made available.
These are located next to the care and providing area.
13. Coaches are allowed to run along with the runners
only in the care and providing area.
THE END OF THE 24 HOURS RACE
14. In case of a premature end of their race runners have
to informe a member of the jury of their resignation.
15. After 24 hours, exactly on the time announced previously,
a endsignal will sound. At this signal the athletes shall
remain on the spot where they are when this sound is heard.
16. As soon as an official of the organization has marked
this spot the track may be left by the runners.
17. Following the end signal and after the spot you stopped
at has been marked, you are requested to complete the
last lap and go to the tribune to receive a well-earned
applause from the public.
COUNTING THE LAPS
18. The lap registration for individual runners wil take
place using the Champion Chip.
19. The number of laps completed by the runners will be
displayed directly on a screen.
20. After every hour, a list with the intermediate scores
will be published.
21. Only completed laps are counted with respect to to
the total number plus the distance in the last incomplete
lap.
22. A complete lap is counted as such when the starting
line has been passed.
23. In order to be considered, protests against and comments
about the lap count have to be lodged with the lap count
jury within 30 minutes after they have been published.
24. Any protests against a decision of the lap count jury
must be lodged with a referee within 30 minutes after
the decision has been made public.
25. Protests against a decision by a referee can be lodged
with the jury d'appeal under payment of € 25.00 and
within 30 minutes after the decision has been published
MATCH MANAGEMENT
26. The match management consists of a racedriector of
the KNAU and a technical assistant of the KNAU.
27. If the rules do not provide for any occurring case,
the technical delegate from the KNAU is authorized to
make a decision. Such a decision shall be binding.
28. The technical delegate is authorized to deviate from
the rules in case of the match making this necessary.
BREACH OF THE RULES
29. The referee is entitled to disqualify a runner in
case of this runner breaking the rules or after repeated
warnings.
30. An official warning will be shown by a yellow card.
A second warning may mean that sanctions are applied,
such as disqualification.
31. The match management is authorized to stop an athlete
for medical reasons following an advice by the official
medical doctor. The athlete shall follow that order immediately.
STOPPAGE ON CALAMITY
32. In case of bad weather or any other calamity the Protocol
for stoppage of the race is in order under the responsibility
of the racedirector.
FINAL CEREMONY
33. The final ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 19th
at 15:00 at the start/finish facing the grandstand
(see map)). Every competitor will receive a certificate
and a commemorative token.
There are 3 medals for the individual athletes and 3 medals
for the teams in the World Challenge
There are 3 medals for the individual athletes and 3 medals
for the teams in the European Challenge
There are 3 medals for the category seniors and 3 medals
for the category veterans in the Dutch Championship
Cups will be awarded to the winners in the following classes:
- Msen, M35, M40, M45, M50, M55, M60 etc.(men);
- Wsen, W35, W40, W45, W50, W55 etc. (women).
REMARKS
34. Every runner participates at his own risk. In case
of damage to the health or properties of athletes the
organizer is not responsible or liable to damages.
35. After the race there can be a doping test.
36. When an athlete resigns before the race but after
the entry closing date there will be no repayment of any
monies already paid.
PROTOCOL FOR STOPPAGE OF
THE RACE
When any reason occurs to suspend the race in connection
with calamities (f.i. thunderstorm) then holds the following
protocol.
By approach of badly weather on seven positions on the
course officials are posted with walkie-talkies in connection
with the racedirector, who is at that moment near to the
speaker.
When necessarily the racedirector gives the signal for
interruption by walkie-talkie and the speaker makes this
immediately known by the speaker installation.
The officials on the seven positions do the following:
- All participants become stopped;
- Start numbers are recorded (when possible) (paper, pencil);
- Participants become send to the nearest shelter.
(Space is approximately 250 meters; Number of participants
on average 30);
- Bring themselves in safety;
- Hand over the number of participants to the racedirector.
To result of affairs the racedirector determines how long
the interruption lasts. Time from signal till stoppers
and duration, a multiple counts of ten ten minutes. Becomes
kept up per chronometer through the racedirector.
Ten minutes before the determined moment of restart the
participants become called up to their point of stopping.
(At start/finish of relay-teams the next runner.) The
officials check the starting numbers (control is number
of participants). Two minutes before the restart, the
racedirector checks the positions with the walkie-talkie.
When not all participants are present the restart normally
goes through. At restart the participants start all in
the same time from the point of stopping (maximum advantage
200 meters). The start signal is given with walkie-talkie
and the speaker installation.
The time of interruption becomes added after 14:00 hour
on Saturday. Exception on that takes place when the interruption
is in the last hour. The race is ended then.

Instruction:
After the start the organization puts a team of officials
together, classifies and instructs them.
If possible: referees, jury-coördinators and course-officials
POINTS TO OBSERVE FOR INDIVIDUAL
RUNNERS
We would like to bring the following points to your attention:
- The start is on Friday May 18th at 14:00 exactly (02:00
P.M.). The individual runners have to start besides the
relay-teams.
- The start for the 6-hours run is on Saturday May 19th
at 08:00 A.M. exactly.
The 6-hours runners have to start on the cycle-track near
the grandstand.
- The start and changeover area (for teams) are situated
on the "Laan van Zevenhuizen" between the crossroads
with the "Mheenlaan" and with "Zilverschoon"
(see map).
- From Thursday May 17th, sites will be available for
parking caravans and/or pitching tents. The allocation
of these sites shall be co-ordinated by the racing organisation.
No electricity is available in the camping area. Note
that use of noisy and diesel generators is not permitted.
It will not be allowed to place tents or caravans near
the changeover area. From Thursday May 25th, lavatories
will be available (see map).
- At 11:00 AM Friday May 18th a last meeting (briefing)
will take place with the racing organisation and the individual
runners (or their coaches) in attendance.
- It is recommended that the individual runners be accompanied
by a coach or assistant.
- The medical team consists of a doctor, a physiotherapist/acupuncturist,
14 masseurs and Red Cross officials. During the race the
massage team is available free of charge.
- The medical team can be consulted only in the sports
hall. Medical team members will attend to runners on the
track in case of emergency only.
- The racing organisation will provide a provisioning
point halfway through the lap. Water, tea, coffee, broth,
sports drinks etc. can be obtained there.
- To enable the participants to easily reach their food
and drink on the track, the racing organisation will provide
a table near the provisioning point. Apart from that the
athletes themselves are responsible for their own provisions!
- There is a place where participants may be given massage.
This is located near the provisioning point.
- Lavatories for individual runners will be made available.
They are situated next to the track. (see map).
- The starting numbers (there are 4 pieces per athlete,
i.e., 2 sets enabling a change of clothes) can be collected
at the administration centre (see map):
For every individual runner:
- Thursday May 17th 4:00 PM - 6:00
PM and
- Friday May 18th
9:30 AM - 12:00 AM.
Extra for the 6-hours runners:
- Saturday May 19th 6:00 AM - 07:00 AM.
- You must wear both starting numbers on the chest and
back at the same time.
- From Thursday May 17th 6:00 PM a scouting home
(close by) is available for sleeping and changing. Sleeping
bags and beds must be provided by the competitors themselves.
- It will be possible to obtain meals and snacks at "MAJON's
cafetaria". This cafetaria is situated close to the
track. There is also a shopping mall near the track (see
map).
- ChampionChip !!
The circuit registration for the solo runners wil take
place using the Champion Chip. The organisation will regularly
display the number of laps completed by the runners. It
is possible to use your own Champion Chip or to hire one
that the organization makes available.
- Participation is not possible without use of a Champion
Chip. !!
- For individual runners a lap is counted after the changeover
area for teams has been passed by the ChampionChip. Every
half hour the number of laps will be shown on two big
trailers.
- In case of a rest, individual runners have to check
in and out with a member of the jury. A jury member can
be recognized by a band on the arm.
- Individual runners are requested not to run in groups
or side by side.
- Coaches are not allowed to run along with the runners
for extensive priods. Running along some distance to give
the participant food and drinks is allowed.
- The final ceremony will be held on Saturday May 19th
at 15:00 at the start/finish facing the grandstand
(see map).
- The certificates will be sent to the participants
home address.
- After the end signal is sounded, the track may be left
only after the final place has been marked.
- The last lap is a LAP OF HONOUR!! Following the end
signal you are requested to complete the last lap (after
the place you finishedat has been marked) and to go to
the tribune to receive there a well earned applause from
the public.
- During the days of the race the organisation can be
reached by telephone. Dial 055 3667348 (district house
"De Boerderij").If you are calling from abroad,
dial: + 33 55 3667348.
- The racing organisation take no responsibility for any
accidents, theft of goods etc., which may occur. Participants
take part in the event at their own risk.
- The racing organisation assume that all competitors
know the competition rules. They are advised to study
these carefully.
- The racing organisation retain the right to forbid a
competitor to continue with the race following medical
advice.
- We are asking you to complete and return the enclosed
press form as quickly as possible. The information you
provide will be used to inform the public and press about
the participants.
- The "Stichting 24-uur Loop Apeldoorn" wishes
all participants a pleasurable preparation free from injury
and a successful race.
CAMPING INSTRUCTIONS
During the competition days of the Apeldoorn 24 hours
race it is permitted to spend the night in tents or caravans
alongside the track.The municipality of Apeldoorn has
given us a special permission for this. Contestants, coaches
etc. are kindly requested to follow the camping instructions.
- Camping is permitted only on the premises indicated
by the organisation (see plan), in and around the "Mheenpark",
from Thursday (Ascensionday) up to and including the Sunday
after the race.
- You are not permitted to mark out any premises in advance
in order to reserve a place.
- The "Mheenpark" has only one way in (see map,
entry Mheenpark "Fortweg"). All the other entries
shall be closed.
- At the entry you will find organisation officials who
will accompany you to the camping premises;
- The competitors are asked to check in when arriving
in order to be registered. This is important since the
organisation wants to record where every competitor/team
is. This information may be crucial in case of an emergency.
- Lorries are not allowed in the park;
- The placing of tents and caravans will take place only
as instructed by the organization.
- After putting up the tents etc., cars must leave the
park. Please follow the path to the Mheenlaan exit and
go to the parking place near the sporthall. Note that
the parking place is not supervised.
- Some premises in the park are reserved on behalf of
the organisation. It is not permitted to remove the marks
and put up tents on those places;
- Only the individual contestants are allowed to camp
on the verges of the "Laan van Zevenhuizen",
as close to the ponds as possible;
- A distance of at least 2 meters must be maintained between
the camping place and the track, in order to let the public
and contestants pass easily. Guy-ropes, tables, chairs,
etc., should not obstruct passers-by;
- Teams that use more than one caravan/tent should put
them up in a row, one behind another.
- Placing large massage/sleeping tents (over 25 m_) should
be discussed with the organisation in advance. For these
tents the large grass plot in the centre of the Mheenpark
is available;
- Garbage should be put in the special containers. Garbage
bags can be obtained from the organisation. Please bring
garbage bags with you as well.
- Contestants are asked to use the lavatories (also at
night !) which will be available from Thursday 9:00 AM;
this applies to water as well.
- After the 24 hours race all camping places must be cleared.
Please don't leave any garbage behind in bags or boxes.
- It is permitted to use "low-noise" aggregates.
The use of aggregates running on Diesel-engines is prohibited.
The latter will be removed.
- You are not allowed to use electricity which has been
put at your disposal by the organisation;
- Water and lavatories will be available until Saturday,
5:00 PM. One toilet will be available until Sunday for
the convenience of runners from abroad.
- The Mheenpark should be cleared by Saturday, before
11:00 PM.
FINAL NOTICE
- Teams from Apeldoorn or other nearby places are kindly
requested not to place their tents or caravans before
contestants from other regions or countries arrive. They
too, must be able to find a place near the track.
- From Thursday evening until Friday morning, the park
will be supervised. The organisation can not, however,
be held responsible for the loss or damage of your property.
Please don't leave any valuable goods behind in an unguarded
tent or caravan.
